AN AUSTRALIAN SERVICE

- The local advantage. In Australia, where we are geographically remote from overseas cryonic storage facilities, Southern Cryonics is a Non-Profit organisation that operates the first cryonic facility in the southern hemisphere. We provide a local service without the increased risks posed by international transportation.
- A chance for life extension. When a person can no longer be supported by current medical technology, and burial or cremation are the only other alternatives, cryonics offers a chance for life extension.
- Using established scientific techniques. Cryonic suspension employs the very cold temperatures of liquid nitrogen (below – 150⁰ C) to preserve a person whose clinical death has been legally declared.
- Over the very long term. Preservation is maintained without any significant biological deterioration over centuries if necessary, allowing ample time for medical science to advance and potentially overcome the current causes of death.

THE CASE FOR CRYONICS

- Affordability. Most cryonic suspensions are funded through life insurance. At age 40, the typical cost is only about $600 per year.
- Rejuvenation. While there are no guarantees in cryonics, advancements in medical science could allow you to wake up in the future with a young, healthy body.
- Optimism. Cryonics gives hope through science and the opportunity to participate in a bright future.

HOW TO SIGN UP

1. JOIN AS SUBSCRIBER
(a) CONTACT. Please feel free to ask us any questions you may have. Some common questions are answered here:
(b) CONSTITUTION. Read our Constitution.
(c) APPLICATION. Download the Subscription Application Form and return it completed via email.
(d) SUBSCRIPTION FEE. Pay the annual fee for the current year, as noted on the form. We will confirm your Subscriber status and take you through the next steps in the process.
2. ESTIMATE SST COST
Once you are a Subscriber, we will assist you to estimate an appropriate level of funding for the specialised Standby, Stabilisation and Transportation (SST) services that you will need prior to being suspended at Southern Cryonics. SST services vary according to personal needs and location. See The Cryonic Process.
OPTIONS. Your Cryonic Suspension Agreement can document your wish for Southern Cryonics to coordinate your SST, and the estimated funding for it can be included in your life insurance policy or pre-payment. Or you may engage an SST provider yourself.
3. ARRANGE FUNDING
Once you are a Subscriber, arrange for the payment of the Cryonic Suspension Fee and SST costs (see Costs below).
LIFE INSURANCE is the typical funding method, so that payment is made at the actual time of suspension. We can assist you in obtaining life insurance through our broker who has experience with major Australian life insurance companies that support cryonics.
PRE-PAYMENT is also a funding option. The actual payment may be made at any time prior to suspension, now or in the future, by either yourself or your trusted representative.
4. SIGN AGREEMENT
Once you are a Subscriber and have arranged your suspension funding, request the following documentation for electronic signing when ready (via DocuSign). Available for viewing here:
CRYONIC SUSPENSION AGREEMENT. Legally required, specifies the terms and conditions of your cryonic preservation and details your wishes and arrangements. May be signed at any time after becoming a Subscriber.
INFORMED CONSENT. Legally required, as per our regulations.
NEXT-OF-KIN AGREEMENT. Not mandatory, but it can avoid delays at the time of suspension. Your Next of Kin is legally responsible for the disposal of your body, and in the event of any doubt, this records their agreement with cryonic suspension procedures by Southern Cryonics.
RELIGIOUS OBJECTION TO AUTOPSY. Not mandatory, but it can avoid destructive procedures and consequent delays that would greatly diminish your chances of an optimal suspension, especially in the event of any doubt re cause of death.
